Medical Insurance

The University at Buffalo requires all full-time and all international exchange students to have medical insurance coverage. You may already be covered by your parents' health insurance plan. Have them check their policy carefully to make certain you have coverage. But remember, many family policies exclude dependent children at age 19. If you find you're not covered, you'll need an alternate plan.

For information, contact the Student Medical Insurance Office located in 223 Student Union, North Campus (716-645-3036). Or visit their web site. External Site Link Icon . The information posted at this web site is generally updated with new policy year information (including benefit brochures, and premium figures) by the end of July. If you want information regarding the student medical insurance plan administered by The Chickering Group, visit their web site External Site Link Icon .
